My Favorite Indian Restaurants in Manila

I’m not really sure when it was that I fell in love with Indian Cuisine but I know it’s when I transitioned into a vegetarian diet. I used to absolutely love Italian and Japanese food and only occasionally tried Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food when I first visited Dubai in 2009 but in 2014 when I became vegetarian I had to explore different cuisine to broaden my options in dining out. I don’t particularly like Chinese vegetarian food as it can be bland or repetitive because of the use of gluten and soy to make faux meat and eating only vegetables with the standard soy sauce and garlic got boring. One day I got to try delicious Indian food and I haven’t looked back! So I present the following places that I have tried delicious Indian food in different parts of Manila, I put them in ascending order from low to high price range.

  1. New Bombay – for fast food type of Indian food, my favorite dishes from them are the Palak Paneer (it’s cottage cheese with spinach) and their Dal Tadkha. They can be found in Manila, Makati, Taguig and other places. They are also available on Food Panda for delivery.
  2. Mantra Bistro Indian Kitchen and Bar ( Bolanos Street | Legaspi Village, Makati, Luzon 1223, Philippines +63 926 049 9357) – This place is a dining place with a bar on the side. I love their lassi, cheese naan, and kulfi, which is an ice cream type of dessert. Their lamb is good as well says people who have eaten there with me.
  3. The Peninsula Spices Restaurant – Now this place is pricey but the food is the best there is! We enjoyed the Bhindi Do among others. This place doesn’t serve only Indian food. Their menu also includes Thai food among others.

Note: All restaurants serve both veg and non-veg food.

I hope you get to try these places when looking for good Indian food in Manila.
